Summer in the city!
As some of you might know, it’s hot outside! Summer has never been so much Summer here in The Netherlands. For weeks now the sun has been shining and actually some of us are craving for some rain (and what about nature? It has been so dry here!). We actually had some rain last Thursday and Isabella was doing a happy-rain-dance in our garden :).
Sansahash made a wonderful swimsuit pattern as we need many at this moment, everyday there is some swimming needed to cool down. (please know that allthough Mgeni from Sansahash has been so kind to provide me the pattern, all opinions are my own, as always!) Make sure to read until the end, there is a giveaway involved :).
The L&K swimsuit is based on the Lilah & Kamaria design. The design comes with two options. The L top features a low front neckline and a racer back. The K top features inverted pleats at the front, slight v-neck, halter neck straps and a low elasticized back. The design also comes with two bottom options: high-waisted style swim bottoms and the basic bikini bottoms. The neck strap for the K is intended to be tied so that where the bodice and necktie meet hits your child’s collarbone. It truly is the ultimate swimsuit for the little ladies!
So I started off with the first version. I had bought some lovely fabric in Springtime at “Stoffenspektakel” (that’s a really huge kind of fair like fabric sale which travels to the Netherlands, Belgium and France. A great way to find out new trends in fabric). Isabella really wanted me to make her a swimsuit. Eeek, I have been avoiding it for months but when I found out Sansahash was developing a new swimsuit pattern, I set aside my fears and started sewing. The instructions are very clear so that made sewing so much more fun. I think the flower fabric is perfect for this pattern and I love the bright colors of pink and turquoise combined with black. I made the racer back top and high wasted bottoms.
For the second pair I ordered some new fabric at Stoffenfeest. Isabella chose a lovely botanical fabric, with bright pink and yellow colors. It’s perfect :). You can still order it here. This time Isabella wanted the normal bikini bottom and since she loved the racerback she wanted it again. So that’s what we did. Next time I will lenghten the racerback a bit, so then I will combine sizes 7 and 8. I had enough fabric left, so sewed the haltertop as well. Isabella love this one and has been wearing it non stop at home, allthough it is a bit too wide for her. But hey, if she is a happy, I am. I think I will make a pleat at the back so it will fit better and then I can unpick it for next year, good idea, right?
Today is the last day of the sale, so be sure to grab your copy! I mean summer will stay here for a while. And for all my Dutch followers, the pattern is available in Dutch as well, how convenient 🙂 !
Now, about that giveway… Mgeni will give away some fabric of her stash (how cool is that!) and of course a copy of the L&K Swimsuit pattern so you can start right away. (If you already bought the pattern if you’d win, she will refund it of course). All you have to do is follow Sansahash on Facebook and join her group to get the code for the sale with 35% off all patterns!
