It’s here; the Tea house dress tour
So, the Tea House Dress Tour is finally here! It started a few months ago with just a bunch of bloggers from all over the world (aka the Pink Ladies; Emi from Just add Fabric, Thao from Little Cumquat, Bettina from Stahlarbeit, Soso from Moineau et Petit pois and myself). In our little Pink Ladies space we talked about the release of the Tea House Dress from Sew House Seven and how much we all liked it. One thing led to another and suddenly we started planning a Tea House Dress Tour. Some more lovely blogging ladies joined us and we all started choosing fabric, choosing which view we wanted to make, taking pictures, preparing blog posts… And so, here we are, from all over the world, talking about what we love, sewing!
Be sure to follow us every day of the tour, since we all made our own version and view, so it will give you great examples of this versatile pattern. And you know what, there will be a giveaway as well!
The Tea House dress is flattering and easy to wear. The pattern has a variety of options for different looks. Use a silk or rayon fabric with some drape for a vintage inspired look, or a cotton yarn dyed stripe for a more modern feel. Here are the specifics:
- a V-neckline with front and back neck yokes, front seaming, in-seam angled pockets (dress versions)
- a back neck box pleat
- cuffed dolman short sleeves
- two different tie options
- views A, B & C feature wide under the bust and inseam ties that can be tied behind the back or doubled around to the front
- Views D, E & F feature a spaghetti waist tie through a back tunnel and can be tied in the front or for a just a bit of waist definition, tied behind the back.
- 3 different lenght options (top, above the knee & tea length dress)
- no closures!
- beginner level pattern sizes 0 – 20
I chose to make view E, the dress with the spaghetti waist tie. Being a bit bold I used a knit instead of cotton or rayon. I just had to make this dress out of the Wishfull Dandelion Fields knit from LA Finch Fabrics. I have had the fabric for a while and it was laying there in my fabric stash, waiting for a project like this…. Be aware that it is quite difficult to use a knit for this pattern… For the best result, use a woven or rayon. I will do so, the next time 😉
Today we start the tour with the wonderful Tea House dresses Bettina (Stahlarbeit) and Melissa (Rebel and Malice) made. So be sure to go and enjoy their stories and enjoy the dresses!
Here’s the line-up, make sure to check them out every day!
Tuesday August 9th || Rebel and Malice || Stahlarbeit || Gaafmachine
Wednesday August 10th || In a manner of sewing || Sew Happy || Mottenfrosch
Thursday August 11th || Sew Mariefleur || Kreamino || Fairies, bubbles & co || Frölein Tilia
Friday August 12th || Made by Sara || Just add fabric || Little cumquat
And now about the giveaway (it ends on Midnight CET on Friday August 12th)! Would you like to win a pattern of your choice from Sew House Seven? Peggy from Sew House Seven has generously offered to sponsor this giveaway, thank you! So, come on and write a comment on this post! We will pick two lucky winners next Monday 15th of August using a random generator.
UPDATE: I received a wonderful message from LA Finch Fabrics. They would like to add 2 times 6 yards of apparel fabric to our giveaway.
Make sure to hop on over tomorrow, more beautifull Tea House Dresses and Tops to come!!!
